众所周知，国际电工委员会对PLC做了如下定义：（可编程序控制器是一种数字运算操作的电子系统，专为在工业环境下应用而设计。它采用可编程序的存储器，用来在其内部存储执行逻辑运算、顺序控制、定时、计数和算术运算等操作的指令，并通过数字式、模拟式的输入和输出控制各种类型的机械或生产过程。）让我们再来看看淬火炉的发展趋势，20xx版的《中国淬火炉行业发展研究报告》称：（20xx-2011年，国内淬火炉产业正在实现稳步增长，产业规模不断提升，未来几年之内，会对淬火炉的自动化、可操作性提出更高的要求。）

那么，将PLC应用于淬火炉中有那些优势呢？

第一，系统构成灵活、扩展容易。通过数字量逻辑控制来对淬火炉的推杆进退、炉门升降、电动机正反转进行自动化控制，借此可以实现全程自动化，有助于提高生产率。模块型PLC提供多种I/O卡件或插卡，因此用户可较合理地选择和配置控制系统的I/O点数，功能扩展方便灵活，一般用于大中型控制系统，例如，淬火炉。

第二，编程简单，操作方便。采用简明的梯形图、逻辑图或语句表等编程语言，形象直观。另外，可在线修改程序，改变控制方案而不拆动硬件，这对于淬火炉这样的大型设备尤其适用。

第三，可编程逻辑控制器接点的响应快、速度高，每条二进制指令执行时间约100ns（纳秒，1微秒=1000纳秒），每条浮点数运行指令约3微秒，因此特别淬火炉
