应聘者在谈自己的优点的一个明智的办法是：在谈到自己的优点时，保持低调。也就是轻描淡写、语气平静，只谈事实，别用自己的主观评论。同时也要注意适可而止，重要的、关键的，要谈，与面试无关的特长最好别谈。另外，谈过自己的优点后，也要谈自己的缺点，但一定要强调自己克服这些缺点的愿望和努力。
特别指出的是，不要夸大自己。一方面从应试者的综合素养表现，考官能够大体估计应试者的能力；另一方面，如果考官进一步追问有关问题，将令“有水份”的应试者下不了台。
