多听“结构”。尽管大多数人都进行了自我介绍的准备，准备的水平也是有所不同的。一些应聘者的自我介绍结构缜密，逻辑清晰，听上去非常清楚；另一些应聘者则纠缠于某些细节，在时间分配上不合理，表达的逻辑相对混乱。由此，可以看出应聘者的逻辑能力、表达能力究竟如何。有的应聘者在自我介绍时能够关注听者的反应，去想“他们希望我讲些什么”，这样的心态可能有助于他们更加合理地安排内容，从这个细节上，也可以反映出应聘者的人际敏感程度，是不是具有关注他人的特点。
多听“观点”。很多应聘者在进行自我介绍时会通过表达自己的座右铭、对某些事情的观点来凸现自己的特点，这些表达往往是关键和有效的，有助于面试官的判断。一名应聘者在自我介绍时说：“我的座右铭就是‘快乐像花儿一样’！”；另一名应聘者说：“我的座右铭是‘没有最好，只有更好’！”。反映出来的人格特质可能完全不同：前者崇尚快乐，注重生活平衡，社会成熟度相对低，心思相对单纯；后者则颇有竞争意识，已经是市场上比较成熟的竞争者。有了这样的判断，面试官可以在后面的面试中进一步关注疑点：前者是否了解岗位的职责和压力所在？后者是否能够容忍团队中能力较低的成员，并与其精诚合作？由此，可以有效地判断出适合岗位的应聘者究竟是哪一位。
