时间渐渐，我们长大了，从瓜瓜坠地的第一声哭泣，到懵懂无知的孩子；从年少轻狂的昨天，到理智果敢的今昔。而我们的父母却在不知不觉中老去，辛勤的工作，简朴的生活，换来我们蓬勃的生机；沧桑的面容，斑白的双鬓，是无情岁月留下来的痕迹。

长大，是一种责任。长大，就意味着我们要独自去面对、去承担一切，无论是酸的、甜的、苦的、或是辣的，因为我们已经懂事，已不再是那个曾依赖在父母怀中撒娇的淘气小孩。

小时侯，如果遇到伤心事，我们可以在父母面前哭个痛快，然后身将它轻轻忘记，不留痕迹。而今，有了心事却只能埋在心底，强作笑颜，不露出丁点蛛丝马迹，因为怕他们知道后比我们还焦急，平添一份多余的担心。

小时侯，从来不知天高地厚，从不懂关心与否，总是嫌父母说话过于罗嗦唠叨，不耐其烦，总是听不进劝告的只字片语，我行我素。而今，当我们已身在异地他乡，才发现唠叨是一种关心，一份爱，他们总是无厌，默然为我们驱赶了身边的一切逆流。

As students,we could share more time with our friends.The friendship in our young hearts is pure,fresh and simple.I often feel very lucky to have a lot of good friends.Especially when I had Justin as one of my best friends.Justin was my English teacher from the USA.I met him in 1996 when I was a student who could only speak very little English.Justin was a vivid young man with a bright smile on his face,and he always had his special way to make the class active and attractive.He taught us English by telling stories,playing games,singing songs,and even dancing.I could still remember very clearly that one afternoon when we fin-ished our class,we went to some other classes to sing songs for them,just like what people do in the states on Christmas Eve.

It was so interesting and unforgettable.Justin was an excellent teacher,because he taught us not only how to study English well,but also the way to find out the beauty of the world and the way to be angels to others' lives.I know there was friendship and pure love in our hearts.Facing this valuable emotion neither nationality nor age was important,the real importance lay in faith,under-standing,and care.Justin is the best friend I have ever had,and I know I will cherish those days of staying together with him as the best part of my memory.

Friendship is a kind of treasure in our lives.It is actually like a bottle of wine,the longer it is kept,the sweeter it will be.It is also like a cup of tea.When we are thirsty,it will be our best choice,but when we have enough time to enjoy ourselves,it is also the most fragrant drink.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.

It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone but it takes a lifetime to forget someone. Don't go for looks; they can deceive. There was once a guy who suffered from cancer, a cancer that can?'t be cured. He was 18 years old and he could die anytime. All his life, he was stuck in his house being taken cared by his mother. He never went outside but he was sick of staying home and wanted to go out for once. So he asked his mother and she gave him permission.

He walked down his block and found a lot of stores. He passed a CD store and looked through the front door for a second as he walked. He stopped and went back to look into the store. He saw a beautiful girl about his age and he knew it was love at first sight. He opened the door and walked in, not looking at anything else but her. He walked closer and closer until he was finally at the front desk where she sat.

She looked up and asked, “Can I help you?”

She smiled and he thought it was the most beautiful smile he has ever seen before and wanted to kiss her right there.

He said, “Uh… Yeah… Umm… I would like to buy a CD.”

He picked one out and gave her money for it.

"Would you like me to wrap it for you?” she asked, smiling her cute smile again.

He nodded and she went to the back. She came back with the wrapped CD and gave it to him. He took it and walked out of the store.

He went home and from then on, he went to that store every day and bought a CD, and she wrapped it for him. He took the CD home and put it in his closet. He was still too shy to ask her out and he really wanted to but he couldn't. His mother found out about this and told him to just ask her. So the next day, he took all his courage and went to the store as usual. He bought a CD like he did every day and once again she went to the back of the store and came back with it wrapped. He took it and when she wasn't looking, he left his phone number on the desk and ran out…

One day the phone rang, and the mother picked it up and said, “Hello?”

It was the girl! The mother started to cry and said, “You don?'t know? He passed away yesterday…”

The line was quiet except for the cries of the boy's mother. Later in the day, the mother went into the boy?'s room because she wanted to remember him. She thought she would start by looking at his clothes. So she opened the closet.

She was face to face with piles and piles and piles of unopened CDs. She was surprised to find all these CDs and she picked one up and sat down on the bed and she started to open one. Inside, there was a CD and as she took it out of the wrapper, out fell a piece of paper. The mother picked it up and started to read it. It said: Hi… I think U R really cute. Do u wanna go out with me? Love, Jocelyn.

The mother was deeply moved and opened another CD…

it’s noticable that western holidays are be***ing increasingly popular day by day, while chinese traditional festivals are being somewhat neglected. not long before about 10 doctors in beijing university and qinghua unversity announced that we should reject the invasion of western holidays ,because they regard western holidays as an challenge against our traditional festivals and culture.

frankly speaking, i don’t quite agree with them.indeed, we should never neglect or even discard our traditonal festivals as china boasts a brilliant history and splendid traditions. (examples).

but why can’t we absorb the meaningful western holidays and culture.

there are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so popular in china. on the one hand, some of the western holidays which we chinese don’t have are reasonable and meaningful, such as father’s day and april fool’s day etc. on the other hand,the prevalence of globalization enables western culture to prevail in china.

overwhelmed by such a trend,chinese unconsiciously get involved in western holidays and culture.
