Books are the ladder of human progress, and books are friends who will never betray. I love reading. Whenever I am immersed in the fragrance of books, I can't extricate myself!
I can't live without books, and books can't live without me. Every day, I soak myself in the sea of books, reading on sunny days, rainy days, spring, summer, autumn, winter, happy and unhappy... You may ask: what spell in the book makes you so enchanted? I love reading, love is the subtle language in the book; Love is the tortuous plot in the book; Love is the profound truth in the book.
I remember the first book my mother gave me was the little match girl. This book describes a little match girl who lived a miserable life and finally died in a corner with a dream on New Year's Eve. Hospitalized, Hemingway fell in love with an older nurse.

About the book The old man and the sea is one of Hemingway’s most enduring works. Told in language of great simplicity and power , it is the story of an old Cuban fisherman ,down on his luck ,and his supreme ordeal ---a relentless , agonizing battle with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream . Here Hemingway recasts , in strikingly contemporary style, the classic theme of courage in the face of defeat , of personal triumph won from loss . Written in 1952 ,this hugely successfully novella confirmed his power and presence in the literary world and played a huge part in his winning the 1954 Nobel Prize for Literature .
About the old man Santiago is described as a failure by other fishermen in the village for catching no fish for a long time . However, he should be regarded as a hero all his life , when he had played the hand game with the great Negro from Cienfuegos who was the strongest man on the docks ;when he fight with that large marlin ; when he struggle with the sharks .
